Seafood

Sep-13-2008 By Tina

I don’t know about you but I have a love hate relationship with seafood. Some dishes I love and could eat over and over. However some of them are not my kind of thing. However I was checking out Great American Seafood Cook Off. The winner has already been chosen in the eyes of professional judges now we can chose our favorite. One of the neat things is the recipe is there for you to try for yourself. I really would like to try Chef Mark Holley’s Texas Gulf Shrimp. Mark Holley is from the great state of Texas and he created this dish on good southern living and the resources at hand right there for him with shrimp. I do enjoy shrimp when it’s cooked with good seasoning. This dish has a neat tomato relish and a bread type thing that it sets on. I think I might have to find someone else to cook it for me because I am scared to cook shrimp correctly.

If I do decide to do this I totally plan on buy domestic shrimp because not only is it fresh, it also is US local which means we are supporting our economy. That seems to be a more important these days as more and more jobs are sent overseas. Also the freshness of it being local means that it will probably taste better than those frozen ones I’ve bought in the store before.

I would highly suggest that you go and visit the site at www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com and vote for your favorite cook off recipe. Also let me know if you try any of the recipes and how they turned out. I’d really like to know how the shrimp turns out especially!!!
