Trying to listen

Sep-29-2008 By Tina

That is the story of my life LOL!!! I am always trying to listen. Being a both a child who had ADD and adult that stills struggle into “Tina” land. It has gotten way better since I was younger and I tend to find that it’s only a really bad problem when I have no idea what the person is talking about. Take for instance my husband talking about techie things. I tend to pick up bits and pieces of things he is talking about. He was talking about something the other day that looking back just makes me laugh. It was one of those conversations where he talked about getting some more stuff for the server that he and his business partner for their side business could get. One of the things that he mentioned was used cisco products. The minute I heard Cisco he lost me. I was left thinking what the heck is he talking about. So now the story to why I was confused.

I grew up in the Belmont area just north of Grand Rapids. On the main road that lead to US 131 and the East Beltline there were lots of business along the way. I remember there being a place called Cisco or something very close to that name. I remember one clear memory too that my Grandma asked my Mom if that was the place that supplied food to the local schools. So I’ve always thought that the company Cisco was a school food supplier.

So that was what my head was thinking when I heard Cisco and I could not understand why Joel and his partner would need anything from them let alone used. In fact though they are a networking equipment company and have nothing to do with food. So of course I tried to look up the company I thought was on West River and came up empty. I have a feeling who ever they were and whatever they did, they are no longer there.
