Overload

Recently we have been getting junk mail at home like crazy and for some reason it seems to be for mostly random stuff to buy. However the big thing is that we are seeing lots of offers for life insurance quotes. We already have insurance on both of us and I feel like we are set with what we have but it’s so strange to constantly get these things in the mail. You always wonder if you might regret not even thinking twice getting something like that but it is what it is.

Worst luck

So we have not had much luck with trying to replace one of our rugs in the kitchen. I thought it would be a bit easier to replace the well worn rug that has been by our Kitchen sink for almost 8 years. Man was I wrong it has been so hard to find a rug that would stay in place and have such high durability. I was so wrong and I hope and pray I can find something because at this point no rug is better than the onee we have tried. I already threw away the old one so it could interesting. Anyone found any good ones out there?

First Camping Weekend

Weekend In Review

This weekend was a nice change of pace…well sort of. We can say we survived our first camping trip of 2010 but it did have it bumps along the way for sure! It started off smooth and easy and I was able to get the camper down to the campsite and set up while Allie and Logan did nap time. It seemed like it might be an easier year with Logan being a bit older now so we were excited to see if it did go that way. Well our first night was nothing but easy. We had started with the idea of Logan sleeping on the top bunk as then he would just hopefully lay down and go to sleep. That left Allie on the double bed below him and Maddie set up with a bed on the couch. That did not work as he went to the part of the bunk that did not have a rail to lean over and talk to Allie as soon as we put him into bed. So we immediately switched Allie and Logan and just prayed he would stay in the bed. Not a chance!!! He was up till almost 11pm trying to climb into our bed. Then he woke up at 5:40 am as if he slept his normal 11 hours. In an effort to keep him quiet I gave him a snack and some milk. Once he had waken the girls less than an hour later and we were feeding them breakfast the threw up all of that snack and milk for us all to enjoy. We cleaned the mess up and just came home early like I talked about in a previous post.

Allie also had a rough afternoon because she was tired and refused to do her BM’s in the camper and insisted on going home to do so. It took us almost 3 hours to figure out why she kept asking to come home and not stay camping to realize she had an upset tummy and would only go at home. That night for sleep we put Logan into the pack and play that he is much to long for but he totally slept there without an issue. Another plus is that Maddie went back to the top bunk and Allie below her on the double. That left an extra mattress pad to be used and so we just threw it on our bed making it even more comfortable.

Sunday morning was way less eventful and even though they were all up by 7:30am it was all way better than the previous morning. We also were able to get packed up and home at a time that allowed us to get a lot done in the morning and early afternoon with some great veg time in the evening. So it was survived but lots was learned!

Not Cool

Well I was planning on heading home this morning so that our dog could go out and also meet my parents at our house so they can ride with us into the campgrounds. I did not plan on coming home with enough time to do dishes and laundry. However Logan slept the worst ever and then to top it off because he had too much milk earlier this morning and then kind of choked he ended up throwing up all of his milk. Let’s just say it had been about 40 mins since he had finished drinking the milk and it was not pretty nor did it smell good at all… it was though the best appetite suppressants ever thought of. They need to bottle that smell as I would never eat again!!! So off we go to Maddie’s soccer game now.

Friday 5: Cooookieeee!

What is absolutely the best cookie you’ve ever had?  I have had so many great ones and anything that is warm and fresh is by far the best.  I seem to remember  a cookie that was really big warm and gooey that the family shared one time but can’t remember where or when.

What is a cookie you really don’t care for?  I do not like frosting on my cookies at all so anything with frosting I do not care for!!!

What are some other cookies you are rather fond of?  I even love plain sugar cookies and cookie dough so most likely if it’s free of frosting I will eat it ;) .

Grocery-store cookies are, of course, never as good as anything that comes out of someone’s kitchen, but what’s a packaged cookie that’s still pretty good?  If the grocery store itself makes them and packages them I go for that first… the next best is the Soft and Chewy kind.

In general, do you think cookies should be chewy and gooey, or should they be crispy and crunchy?  Chewy and gooey all of the way for sure!!!  Crispy and crunchy screams over cooked or getting old to me.

Camping 2010

We we are off tomorrow to go cmaping for the first time this year.  I am so ready to see what this year of camping holds for us.  I am really hoping that Logan does a better job of sleeping for us this year.  In the past he has been a horrible sleeper that has made it lots of work to get him to bed each night.  So we shall see about that!!!   On another note I am waiting to hear back from the doctor about my Throid tests.  It’s not so much the weight bothering me right now but I really want to get rid of belly fat. My pants no longer fit like they use to even when I have weighed this much in the past. I have cut back my calories and everything. It’s just so frustrating!!!

Mothers Day Weekend

Weekend In Review

I am yet again going to try and start using a new meme.  This one was created by a good friend of mine and it’s a great way to get people to talk about their weekend.  The other great thing is as we go on trips and do exciting things as a family I’ll have it all documented to read through again down the road.  Time is so precious and sometimes we forget about the important stuff.

This past weekend started off with a Tea for moms at Allie’s preschool.  We met them at their classroom door where they escorted us down to the Tea room.  The kids even were taught to have their elbows extended for us moms to hold on to and they had made wrist corsages for us to wear.  When we got downstairs they had homemade place mats with two types of Flower vases for us.    We had cookies with Ice Tea and Lemonade while we watched a slide show of the kids from the year.  It was a very sweet, special, and great day with my little Allie Bear!

Saturday my mother in law came over and we spend the day with her here at our house.  She treated us to our favorite Chinese restuarant.  Then we had Strawberry Shortcake for our dinner.  It was a nice and relaxing day!

Sunday I was greeted by the kids with cards and a necklace that my little birthstone kid gems could actually fit on.  Maddie also presented me with a gift she had made at school.  It was “TIME Exclusive “Tina Ross chosen Mother-Of-The-Year 2010″ Special Edition”.   Then we spent the afternoon at my parents house with my sister and her family.  It was a great day and my husband made allowed me to relax and enjoy the entire day!

I am working on uploading lots of photos to share with you and am trying to find the best way to do this since I have so many to share.  What photo sharing site do you use when blogging?  We have a smugmug account and I have used Flickr and Photobucket but I can not decide what is best to use to share here on my blog.  I also upload way too many pictures to Facebook.  I wish there was a photo sharing site that synced with Facebook as that would make my life so much easier all around!

Kitchen roof

Well we finally got the leak in our kitchen repaired a few weeks ago.  It was an on going leak we have had for almost 4 years now.  With getting the repair done we now have to get it re drywalled.  So that should be fun with all of the sheet rock floating around the house!!!  One of the things I noticed when I was looking for a drywall person when we had not heard from our main one was that a lot of contractors and drywallers talked about having bpi training. At first I had not idea what the heck that was until I looked into it more. I would love to have our house get it’s Home Star meaning it had it’s work done by a Certified Energy efficient worker. The awesome thing is that there are so many tax deductible credits having an energy efficient home would have. Oh well most of the stuff is too late after a lot of the big work has already been done.

Thyroid

So I called my doctor today because I had my blood drawn for a bunch of tests because weight loss has just been impossible for me lately. I’ve only been eating between 1200-1600 calories a day and been keeping busy with things around the house and I’ve not been able to drop more than a pound. Also back when I was going to 6 one hour gym classes a week and eating between 1200-1400 calories in January and Feburary and I was only able to lose 3.5 lbs. So we shall see…. I’ve been taking womens vitamins, drinking tons of water, and really being conscience of food going in my mouth. I just hope to find something that there is a way to get things back to normal for me. GRRR

Friday 5: Colors Yet Again

Who could be described as a nightmare in pink?  I must say I never understand these questions that call other people out there are so many othere good questions that could be created to get people like me that use this meme to share more about themselves.  Instead it seems to be more about tlaking about others.  I wish this would change!!!

How long does it take you to type “The quick red fox jumps over the lazy dog” on your cell phone or computer keyboard?  I have no idea but it is much faster on the computer than on my cell phone.

What item in a plain brown wrapper did you most recently receive?  I have no idea honestly because I never pay attention to that because it’s the thought behind the gift not what it is or what it came in.

Who’s got the loveliest cinnamon skin?  Seriously????

When did you last take a walk in the lonely silver rain?  It has been a while but I did take a run last summer and I just loved it… I am thinking about getting back into running again this summer.  Granted my foot will decide how it goes and I am going to do it a bit slower this time than last summer.
