Well this is the second time I am writing this post because WordPress decided not to auto save the draft and then logged me out…. as if the laptop story itself is not enough frustration for me I have to write it two times.
So my laptop seems to see more vacation time than I do this year and I have seen quite a bit already with Hawaii and camping so far. Back in January my laptop had to be sent in for service because the hard drive had gone bad. Which honestly wasn’t the greatest thing but not the end of the world because Joel has it set up that all of our computers get a nightly back up done to one of our Servers or computers he has down there in the dungeon. Off it went and came back about 3 weeks later. The main problem is it actually came back with some more issues it did not have before. The fan was making all sorts of funny noises but not horrible yet as it was still working. The hinge to the screen also came back lose as well. So we just dealt with it for a while because they had taken so long to service it. Well then another issue started as well that didn’t seem to affect the computer performance just annoying. A USB driver failure would come up if you moved the computer to much on your lap but everything still seemed to be working. The hinge did eventually come unscrewed but between Joel and our neighbor who services laptops and computers we were able to reconnect it.
So the begining of May the fan completly died and we totally expected it to since it had been acting up. So we set it off again and about 2 weeks later it came back and Joel was able to pick it up on Thursday on his way to the campgrounds. Because we were camping we did not start it up will we were home and settled on Monday afternoon. When we sent it off to them we asked them to make sure the hinge was fixed properly and would not come out again, to replace the fan, and to look into a spot in the screen. Well the fan was fixed and that seemed about it… in fact the wireless internet card seemed to be malfuctioning and could not find a single network even though there are 2 here in the house and tons in the neighborhood. Also the mouse was only able to work for 30 seconds after you touched it and then it would completely freeze until you restart the computer. They did not touch the screen in any manner and it even had errors when starting up. Since we did not let them have the hard drive when we sent it back we know it was all hardware issues.
It makes me so angry that I can not call the actual service company that the warranty place uses. I should be able to call them out for what they have done and point out the issues that are super important. To top it off they are the ones that get to decide if the computer needs to be replace completely yet I get to have no communication with them. Granted if Circuit City had not closed I could have in person let people who talk English what is wrong and how they need to take care of the problems caused by them all from a hard drive replacement.
So we shall see here in a couple of weeks what is going to happen, I can tell you that if one more thing comes back broken or not fixed correctly I will be on the phone with the warranty company till I talk with a manager and I get the best service because I’ve had it!
