Deep cleaning

Nov-20-2008 By Tina

So in the midst of cleaning out all of the nook and crannies of this house I have found some interesting stuff. Allie had a sweater that she wore almost 1 1/2 years ago that some how fell in the back of the girls dresser… well I found it today. How weird to find a size 2 shirt when she is wearing 4/5’s. I also went through a medicine area and found some old herbal diet pills. Their expiration date was 9/06. Kind of sad that I never got rid of those until now but sure made me laugh to find them since my weight loss has been natural!

then this is for you!!!! I am just having one of those days where I’m cranky and tired. I have not been able to concentrate on anything for very long either. So I was talking with a friend on IM and realized that I hadn’t eaten lunch and it was like 3:55 OOPS. Then all of a sudden I dissapear from IM for about 20 mins. I got to tell my friend that forgetting to eat lunch was not in any way the worst thing I forgot when I came back. Wanna know why?

Because I forgot to pick Maddie up from School today!!! I sent in a note yesterday that I would pick her up today because their Sally Foster product would be in and I didn’t want her to have to carry it on the bus. So instead of making the poor girl carry it on the bus I wanted to pick her up to save her the hassel but instead I completely forgot to come pick her up from school. I was aboout 13 mins later than my normal time of picking her up. They called me at 3:55……

Parade of Homes #2

Nov-14-2008 By Tina

Ok so I forgot to mention the other really funny part of my story yesterday. When you visit these parade of homes they are normally the type of homes equipped with security systems that are top of the line. Some of them even went as far as having ways to access the camera views from different points of the house. One of the houses we went to had one set up that you could view from a laptop in the kitchen. I’m guessing so if you are cooking and someone comes to the door you can see who it is? I can not say I’d ever use these systems to protect my home from strangers but rather from my kids. It would be an awesome way to keep an eye on them while I tend to things I need to do things around the house. How funny something made to protect those who might enter your home when my friends and I agree those things are no worry it’s the invaders already in the house LOL!

Friday 5: Misuses

Nov-14-2008 By Tina

When did you last use the edge of a coin (or a knife blade) as a screwdriver? In one of the kitchen drawer knobs to tighten it.

When did you last use a wire coat-hanger to break into a car? I can say I’ve never done that.

When did you last use food or drink as medication? When I’m stressed I love to eat chocolate but it doesn’t help anything but I just love the taste of chocolate.

When did you last use your cellular telephone as a flashlight? In the Car the other night to find a pen that I dropped while trying to sign a card in a dark parking lot.

When did you last use a paper clip for any purpose other than to clip paper? I can’t really think of any reson I’d use one for anything other than paper.

Parade of Homes

Nov-13-2008 By Tina

Almost 2 months ago a couple of friends and I went to the local Parade of Homes.  It’s always so much fun to see all of the neat homes and things that builders are doing in the area.  It’s also fun to dream about what your next home could look like.  You never know, you might even end up in a home built buy one of the builders on display. The one thing I noticed is that everything that they show is at a much classier scale than I would pick for myslef. I like some of the new things out there especially the modern bedroom look, but I’d rather have a more casual and comfy look to the house overall. The best part was seeing a home in the area that is worth over a million and realized even if I had the money that is not how I would spend it at all.

Friday 5: Middles

Nov-7-2008 By Tina

What usually marks the middle of your day? Nap time…. It’s when I can take time to read, catch up on a show, take a shower, or get a few things done.

From whom (or to whom) was your most recent middle-of-the-night phone call? I can not remember the last one but I’m guessing it was probably a call about post pregnancy BP over a year ago.

On what social, political, economic, or moral issue are you in the middle of the road?My biggest struggle is that normally I fall one way on the political scale but when I factor in my beliefs on humanitarian issues I have a hard time believing that either side has the perfect answer and the only true answer is to go to the Bible.

How likely are you to give someone your middle finger? Never….

When were you last caught in the middle of a disagreement that really had nothing to do with you?I try to stear clear of that and if someone asks for my help I think it’s only fair to come in as just the middle person and not for one side.

Plans

Nov-4-2008 By Tina

Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version)
‘11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

There have been so many times in the years since I accepted Jesus as my Savior that I thought that I had to have everything figured out for my future. Little did I know or understand that I have no control but that there is already a great plan in place! This verse has been place in my life in the last few weeks so many times because it was time for me to finally understand it. From this verse alone the way I think of things has changed and how my faith must be the only thing that leads is clearly stamped on my heart. If this verse is not enough to understand that no matter what happens that God has a plan for us. A plan in which he will guide us, give us strength, and always be there. Then I’m not sure you really get the awesomeness of God at all. He is offering a life where fear no longer rules and faith in hope in a planned out future that one day leads to an unimaginable eternity with him. If you have no accepted this gift already then please consider it now. Because the other reality is that we do not know when he will come back and that is not something I’m ever willing to risk!

Matthew 24:42-44 (New International Version)
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Keeping our kids innocent

Nov-4-2008 By Tina

I was early to my MOPS group a couple of weeks ago and I decided to just sit back and enjoy the peace and quite while I listened to the Radio. A great new song came on the radio and I think that everyone should see it. So here it is from YouTube:

The Lyrics are:
“Casting Crowns: Slow Fade”

Be careful little eyes what you see
It’s the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it’s the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It’s a slow fade, it’s a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you’re thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

New job

Nov-4-2008 By Tina

Well next week Joel starts his new job here working from home for a new company.  Of course now we need to make the basement (aka dungeon) into a more cozy place.  This includes some new office furniture. He could really use a new chair and a bookcase for sure. We shall see if there is any thing else he needs as he gets settled in down there. I wonder what he’s getting for Christmas LOL!!!

It’s going to be nice to have him here for the times I need to do things without kids. Nap time is going to be a bit more productive if he’s here to listen for the kids and I can run to the store. I hopefully can get to all of Maddie’s parties at school now too!

Fall cleaning

Nov-1-2008 By Tina

That is how we are spending the next while Joel has a week off.  We didn’t really get to a true Spring Cleaning this year so we are going to do it now.  Plus it will make the Holidays so much easier by having things already in order.

One of the tasks that I started on today was our bedroom.  It’s the most neglected room in the house.  Whenever someone comes over it tends to be the hiding place for junk.  We just need a calm and relaxing place to come to at night.  So I’m hoping that while we are at Home Depot tomorrow getting a few other things that need to get this place in order I can convince Joel to go look at ceiling fans with me. Our room could really use one to give it better light and circulation. Now just to convince Joel that!!!!
