Friday 5: Super Friday

Jan-30-2009 By Tina

In American football, a fumble occurs when the player carrying the ball drops it, often resulting in a great advantage for the other team. What have you recently fumbled in your own life?  I feel like I’ve really been just dropping the ball alot lately.  There is no other team persay that gets the advantage because it’s my life and not anyone elses but I need to be more consistent in the things I do and not so all over the place.

In American football, you have thrown an interception when someone from the other team catches the ball you meant for your teammate. Who’s often an interceptor of something you intend for someone else?  My husband often gets the brunt of the things I often miss is the best way to describe this in my life.  Thank goodness though he will pick it up and run with it.  We are on the same team but I often mean to do these things myself but fall short on getting there. Thank goodness for him!!!!

One of the severest penalties in American football is for unsportsmanlike conduct, when a player doesn’t play according to the spirit of fair play. In what situations are you most likely to be a perpetrator of unsportsmanlike conduct?  Recently I have really been more unsportsman like with my kids.  Life is just been so busy that they seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to my stress level and how it effects me.  I am so happy though that I am able to see this as then it means I can make that change for the sake of my kids.  I hope that they too can see that I recongnize this and see me change for all of our sakes.

In American football, the concept of running low-risk plays that consistently gain a few yards at a time is called “moving the chains,” while the concept of going after huge gains with higher-risk plays is called the “vertical game.” In your personal life, are you more of a moving-the-chains player or a vertical-game player? Lately I have been living closer to the line of “moving the chains” mentallity.  I have also played closer to the line of “vertical game” in my life and know that the true balance is really in the middle.  I hope that with acknowledging this that I can find the balance of knowing which way to lean better because sometimes you have to take risks but you also have to know when to slow down and take your time.

Sometimes in American football, the quarterback will, at the last moment, change his or her mind about the intended play, either to prevent what is likely to be a failure or to take advantage of a vulnerability in the other team. The method used in this play-change is often “calling an audible.” In what way have you recently called an audible in your life?  I am a huge last min mind changer and it drives people nuts but I like to know that no matter what I’ve done my best even if others are shaking their heads at me.  This is me and thank goodness people love me for who I am!

Friday 5: Net Habits

Jan-23-2009 By Tina

What types of blogs do you usually read?  I love to read other mommy’s blogs.  They relate to me and alot of time I can relate to them and their journey.

What kinds of products do you usually buy when you shop online? I tend to buy clothing for the kids.  Most anything else is bought in the store.

What kinds of online videos do you usually spend time watching? We have a netflix subscription and we stream it through our X-box 360 so techinically it’s online but throught the X-box.  We watch all kinds of movies that way.

Besides Friday 5, what weekly memes do you particularly enjoy? I also enjoy Wordless Wednesday but I haven’t been good at all about doing that one at all.

Where do you like to go for streaming online music? JQ99 of course since it’s my favorite channel and they play my music.

Health supplements

Jan-23-2009 By Tina

I use to be really good about adding in health food supplements when trying to lose weight and get healthier. These last few times I have no gone this route and am truly rethinking that. When I lost weight to fit into my wedding dress I took better care of myself by adding other nutrients and vitamins that a body needs to better sustain itself. However these last few “diets” have not had those things included and it just doesn’t seem to be the same or as effective. So now I am trying to find the right mixture again. I did come across Lipovox reviewsand I am tempted to give the Lipovox a try because a few of the supplements are ones that I too have found help. Has anyone else heard of this or given it a try?? I’d love some feed back because I really think it might be an awesome choice for me. I have done the Mega Green Tea and other supplements together and now I’m thinking an all in one might be a better option.

Ambulance chasers

Jan-23-2009 By Tina

I tell you everytime I see those lawyer commercials on T.V. I just about die over with laughter.  Seriously who would use those goons.  They are your T.V.’s version of an Ambulance chaser.  They honestly do not give me the feeling that they would care about my case if I truly needed them for something.  I would rather spend a bit more a get a more personal lawyer that isn’t trying to get the next big cash in on a ingury suit or something.  Today I saw one for Seattle injury lawyer’s and I thought why does the T.V. station even sell ads to these people from Seattle of all palces? I am so thankful that for the most part I never see ads because of our DVR.

Look out!!!

Interstate 96

Jan-21-2009 By Tina

My main pathway into Grand Rapids is I-96.  I travel it often as most of my family lives almost right off from it in their towns, I have alot of friends that live off from it, and all of our doctors work off from it.  Over the last four years the road has changed alot.  They have pretty much redone all of the portions I tend to travel the most and put in really nice pot hole free roads.  I’ve also noticed the last few times that I’ve gone in that they have put up one fo those digital signage type things that let you know about accidents and road conditions.  This is super nice for me because if there is an accident ahead I can get off and go one of the hundreds of back ways I know around the GR area.   Isn’t technology awesome!!!!!!!

Friday 5: Wind

Jan-16-2009 By Tina

Among your friends, who could be blown over by a strong wind?    My friend Mindy wins the first prize there she is so cute and small.  Granted I would take the chances with the wind if I could be cute and smaller like her!!!

What’s something in your house you occasionally wind? There is nothing in my house that I have to wind at all…

Is there some significant gossip you’ve recently gotten wind of? I just found out today that one of my high school friends is pregnant and she isn’t tell many people at all till she is further along.

Where is the windiest place you’ve ever been?  Chicago duhhh….The Windy city has it’s name for a reason!

What do you do, on a typical day, to unwind? I love Nap time…. Logan sleeps on the main floor and is a light sleeper durning the day so we have to be super quiet. This gives me the much needed peace and quite time every mom craves to unwind.

Little scared…. UPDATE

Jan-16-2009 By Tina

Ok so they believe that Logan has a asymmetric rib cage. It’s not a huge health danger but down the road could cause issues if it continues to worsen. We were asked to take pictures of him from different angles to document what it looks like and use it as a reference to watch for changes. If we continue to notice changes we will need to go in for more scans as well. But at this point it doesn’t see to be affecting his heart, lungs, or spine. These will be things that we’ll just keep an eye on as he grows. They will do a throughall check of it again at his 18 month appointment in about 3 months.

So right now we have nothing to worry about but we need to be aware of it and how it changes as he goes through growth spurts.

Little scared…

Jan-16-2009 By Tina

Last night I noticed a bump on Logan’s chest.  It’s right about where his heart is and where his left and right ribcage meet on the left hand side.  It felt alot like his ribs sticking out in that area but I wasn’t 100% sure.  We put a call into the after hours nurse at his office and we conculded it was not life threating in anyway but it should get check out today.  This morning I took him into the Docs and he thinks it is what is called asymmetric rib cage.  He did send us on for chest x-rays to take a look at his lungs, heart, and ribcage.  We should know more later.

Security

Jan-15-2009 By Tina

My hubby and I use to talk, back before we owned our first home, about how we would keep our home safe once we owned one.  We always thought we would have a huge need for a home security system.  Once we moved in our home my husband ended up having to travel 5 days a week and I got pregnant for Maddie.  So I looked into ADT and the possibilities that they offer.  We decided at that time sole on saving money not to go that route.

Now I often wonder what it would have been like to have had a system even in this super safe neighborhood we live in where neighbors look out for each other.  ADT now offers so many great features to their systems and the technology has gotten better over the last 7 years.  One of the new features that I think is so great is called the safepass.  It is essentially like a magnetic key thing that you wave in front of the alarm to disarm it.  I am assuming a lot like the fast pay that you can now do with credit cards at stores.  I know that would make using the alarm for someone like me with 3 kids and always an arm full.

If we were to ever get an alarm in our house it would be for so many reasons beyond the security thing.  It would also give us a much more reliable fire detector and even help keep our children safe in their home where they belong at appropriate times as they grow.  When the time comes for us to find a new home it might be an avenue that we look into depending on the location of the home.  I think if we are on a busy street it would be a huge help in that secure feeling we all strive for.  Here is a picture and a little more info about Safe Pass looks cool to me!
