Friday 5: Hues Your Head

Oct-31-2008 By Tina

Among people you know, who has the greenest thumb?  This without a doubt has to be either my mother or my MIL.  My mom is awesome at taking care of and selecting great indoor and outdoor plants.  My MIL though is awesome in the actual garden.  So it’s really a tie!

Among people you know, who has the bluest blood?Hummm I had to pick someone who has always wanted to be a princess, she is one of my friends that goes back to middle school.  At Daneen’s wedding she even had specials drinks to match her favorite colors.

Among people you know, who has the yellowest belly? In terms of trying new things in some way’s I’d say my sister… but I can sometimes be this way as well.

Among people you know, who has the blackest heart?  I have no idea, I can’t even figure out what that means LOL.

Among people you know, who is the most silver-tongued? My husband…. granted not sure if that is a compliment or not.  He has persuaded me to believe things one too many times in the time I’ve known him to turn around and telling me he’s joking.

Debt

Oct-31-2008 By Tina

Also known as that big scary word we all hate to hear.  My hubby and I have dealt with our own issues just as so many other Americans have as well.  I think the scariest part is worrying that you might get a call from some debt collection agencies.  For us thankfully that has never happened and our credit score is just as good as it was 10 years ago.  I just feel so bad those for people who have to deal with this on a much deeper and scarier level.

Right now our economy is going through so much and so many people are struggling.  I know for us we just want to find a better way to make things run that allow us a bit more freedom.  I am slowing learning that if I just relinquish control and follow what God has in store for my family that I truly would be better off.  Now to just do it without thinking too much about it my wants and making it about Him.   I was going to share my new favorite verse in this post but with it being Halloween and just not enough time I’ll wait and share a fresh blog on it in the next day or two!!!

Happy Halloween All!!!!

Housing

Oct-28-2008 By Tina

I feel so bad for the many people out there that are hoping to sell their homes right now. One of my friends has had her house on the market for almost two months now and has not had a single showing. However those looking to buy that do not have houses to sell use to be in an awesome position. With looking at mortgage quotes they would be in a really good place…well except for the fact that it’s almost impossible to get a new mortgage right now. I am so thankful for the house that we have and even though it’s not perfect and I wish we had a bit more room it’s better than nothing. Granted I would be in heaven if we could actually sell our house in this market just for the awesome mortgage rates we could get on a new home. I don’t think we will be going anywhere anytime soon and don’t even want to try because we’d probably just lose money.

Friday 5: Where, Oh Where?

Oct-24-2008 By Tina

Where’s your favorite beach? Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. We have gone there as a family two times now and our kids talk about it all of the time. We hope to go back soon.

Where’s your favorite place to spend money? Childrens Place for the kids… they have the cutest clothing. Just ask my husband as he knows how much I love to shop there.

Where’s a good place to watch people? We love to people watch and by far the best place to watch people spending time together is at the park. But it’s also a great place to spend time with our kids.

Where’s a good place to be totally alone? The library is a great place to be alone. I don’t remember much about alone time these days. My alone time is when my two kids that stay at home with me durning the day take naps.

Where’s a place outside of work (or school) where you’re likely to run into people from work (or school)? Church is a common place to run into people but I also run into people at Meijers. I do not work outside of the home or go to school.

Business

Oct-19-2008 By Tina

My parents are always surprising me with things that go through their heads at times.  I was driving through Sparta a few months ago with my Mom and we were talking about a great place my MOPS steering team had gotten food from.  She then proceeded to tell me that her and my Dad had looked into franchise opportunities with that place. They had talked about wanting to possibly put one right here in our town. I was just floored to hear this and it just shocked me. It’s crazy to think they were thinking about the restaurant business. I still am in shock today, LOL.

I have a feeling some day my parents are going to do something even bigger and more shocking to me but no matter what I have a felling that God will be leading them the entire way. It’s going to be fun to see what opportunities come their way over the years and how they proceed. For now they are enjoying all of the time they can get with their grand kids.

Flat Tire

Oct-19-2008 By Tina

Yesterday durning nap time Joel went out and did a few errands. On his way home he was coming into town to get some gas when he hit something and heard a huge gush sound. He pulled into the gas station and while filling up the van the tire went completely flat. Luckily we live across from and have become fairly good friends with a neighbor that works for a tow company.

He came and resuced Joel and helped him get a spare on. Granted that changed any and all plans we had fro this weekend since you shouldn’t drive around on a spare. So we are here at home missing church this morning. It feels very strange but we have to wait till tomorrow till we can get the tire repaired.

Friday 5: Whoooooo?

Oct-17-2008 By Tina

Who frightens you? This would have to be Logan. It’s not his looks by any means but all of the new tricks that he learns almost everyday. It frightens me to see him stand up on an end table in the living room.

Who regularly surprises you? Maddie for sure. She is learning so much this year in 1st grade and some of the things truly surprise me. Like trying to stretch out the word Responsibility: rsblity, even her teach was super proud.

Who calms you down? Allie for the most part is my calming factor in the day. She is always bringing you down from frustration just by being her and giving us that smile.

Who inspires you? All three of my kids inspire me to be a better person, mom, and wife!!!

Who admires you perhaps more than he or she should? Maddie wants to be just like me but what I pray is that she sees what God has planned for her and who she is to become!

Learning letters

Oct-13-2008 By Tina

Lately before Allie goes down for her naps we have been reading a line of books from Scholastic called Alpha Tales (Maddie is into a couple of other from this same family lines called Sight-Word Tales, Transportation Tales, and Word Family Tales). The set that Allie is reading with me right now is a book for each letter in the alphabet. Lately I’ve been letting her pick 3 books for me to read before nap. Normally she’ll pick ones that have to do with her name like ALE or LIE and so on. Well the other day she picked KVM. I have no idea what that was about. But it was funny to me.

10 year Anniversary

Oct-13-2008 By Tina

Well Joel and I have been doing lots of looking around to decide our 10yr anniversary location and I am about 95% sure we are going to go to Vegas. Now we are not the gambling type but there is so much more to Vegas. We want to take a day trip to the Hoover Dam and Sky Walk that over looks the Grand Canyon. We also hope to do a from Vegas helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon and many other beautiful places as well.

We have been looking at places to stay while we are there lately and not just a hotel in las vegas. My parents are allowing us to trade in a week at one of their timeshares for us to use. I think we are leaning towards the Marriott Grand Chateau. We have loved the other Marriott that we have stayed at in Myrtle Beach.

I can not wait to really start planning this trip in the Spring when we can book the timeshare. It’s going to be very exciting to plan this and experience this as a couple. It will be good for all of us including the kids!

Friday 5: Ties that Bind

Oct-10-2008 By Tina

“My hands are tied” is an English-language cliche that means “I’d like to do something about this unfortunate situation, but I don’t have the ability or authority.” In what current situation do you feel your hands are tied?I recently started selling on e-bay. Things were going well until one of the buyers decided she was unhappy. She dd not follow my terms of sale but thought she was the one wronged. She took a claim to paypal and I escalated it to allow them to decide. They pretty much sided with us both and she is suppose to return the lot if she wants any money back. Now I have to wait and see if she does. She has till Thursday.

Railroad ties are the evenly-spaced slats that lie perpendicular to train tracks and whose function is to hold the tracks in place and to distribute the weight of the train. Who are the railroad ties in your life? God he is the one and only that can keep me on the tracks that he has laid out for me.

What are your feelings about Thai food? I’ve never really had any…

Whose thighs do you admire? Chicken thighs????

A red tide is a proliferation (in ideal circumstances) of oceanic algae that often seem to discolor seawater and threaten other sealife. If the ocean is your life and the algae the harmful attitudes, thoughts, or moods that crowd out the good stuff, under what conditions in your life is red tide most likely to become a problem? When I no longer allow God to drive and Satan brings in the red tide.
