Friday 5: Lids

What did the last hat you wore look like?  I was a ball cap that I got while we were in Maui.  It’s brown with pink writing.

What’s your strategy for unscrewing those stubborn jar-lids?  Either call my husband to help me or use this rubber thing that helps grip it.

How good are you at keeping a lid on it?  It really depends on the information I am trying to hold in.

Here in Hawaii, people are often very self-conscious about their eyelids. How do you feel about yours?  I think they are pretty good… and I would have never guessed that about Hawaii after being there.

Are you acquainted with anyone named Lydia?  Not that I can think of…

Beach Life

I love when my family is able to enjoy a little taste of the Beach Life… we have found ourselves being able to enjoy this every couple of years. We really enjoy the areas surrounding the North and South Carolina Beach Coasts. At this point Myrtle Beach is the one that we have had the opportunity to visit these last few years.  Something about the ocean in the Carolina’s just screams comfort and relaxation!    This next April we are suppose to meet Family there but we are also looking at meeting good friends of ours from Mechanicsville VA somewhere in the middle of there to spend some time with them as well.   So it could not have come at a better time to learn about this awesome place that is located in the Outer Banks of NC.

The rental property is called “Seahawk” and I immediately called our friends in VA to see what they thought of it and all we can say is Wow!!!  This hosue would be able to hold both of our families and give us so much to do that it’s really neat to even think about.  It boasts 5 full bedrooms and 4 and half baths with a huge main living space and to die for kitchen!  There is no doubt our children would be able to have yet another awesome adventure together without the discomfort of a hotel.  We are always looking for a great place to meet at on our yearly meet up and this house has it all!   I can not believe that even though we normally choose to meet somewhere that means the same driving time for both families that I would actually push for  Outer Banks rentals but this seems so right.

This house truly has it all, from the Game Room where our kids could bond and play to the patio us moms could lounge on while the guys bring us our sweet tea while we watch the kids swim during the day.  By night you can bet to find us adults relaxing in the hot tub once the children are tucked in for the night.  After taking a look at the prices they are actually right where we were this past summer for our vacation together so this is becoming such an awesome idea which means I think they are so perfectly priced!!! I’m probably getting a little t0o excited because we have not talked with the guys yet about it!  I think the first step to get the guys on board is to slip a little picture from Carolina Designs page with all of the great pictures of this rental.  Maybe they will be hooked before they even know what hit them.    I am guessing you are wanting to see more too so as I sign off to go dream about the possiblity that this hosue could offer us this summer I will leave you all with a few more of my favorite pictures.    I must warn you to close you eyes if you already have summer plans because I would hate for you to know about a place you can’t visit…however if you do not have plans please clear your date with me first so that we don’t have to fight over it ;)   Mouse over the pictures for info about then picture.

Need a Vacay from thinking

I feel like my mind is running in circles right now in ways that I can save us money, keep the house clean, how to finish the midway projects around here, and just make life more fun for the kids.  Do you know how hard it is to think about these things at the same time because they conflict with each other in so many ways.  So to make matters worse I was skimming through all of the spam messages I’ve gotten and only a few ever catch my eye because the Spam normally has a distinct look to it but there are a few that look like normal coments.  Well one was for a Branson vacation package… I’ll tell you what with so much going through my mind I thought I almost had won something for a split second. Wow do I need to step back and just let God lead me on a the right paths right now more than ever. Granted might not help I am so tired and just cranky right now either…

Friday 5: Mint!

How picky are you about toothpaste?  I’ll pretty much use anything but prefer certain flavors and for the most part Crest.

What’s the best cooked dish you’ve had that included mint?  Mojitos…granted there was no cooking just some awesome mixing.

How far would you have to go from where you are right now to get a breath mint?  25 feet at most!!!

Got any gum?  For sure but we have to hide it from Miss Allie because she likes to sneak it.

What’s something you keep in mint condition? I attempt to keep my kids clothing this way or at least the nice stuff… and all antiques I have been given as well.

Happy Birthday Logan

I can not believe that 3 years ago today our little man came into our world.  He may be a bit of chaos at times but there is so much love and personality in that little guy that I know our lives would be very boring without him.  He is starting preschool this fall and he’s potty trained.  It’s so hard to believe how fast it went and there are times when I miss holding that bitty little guy.  Granted that is pushed away wit thoughts of how much work he was as well at that age.  We are looking forward to his party tomorrow.

Friday 5: No Superstitions Here!

What’s something good that there are thirteen of?  I have no idea… but the 13th verse of 1 Corinthians is a pretty powerful.  Now if this had been 9 or 10 I would have easy answers.

Have you known any black cats?  My Aunt and Uncle use to have one…

Among people you know, who seems to have an uncanny knack for games of chance?  Maddie seems to win most raffles that she puts tickets into.

It seems to me that while people seem to have all kinds of tokens of good luck, such as lucky articles of clothing or lucky rituals or lucky figurines, nobody has a lucky food. What would make a really good good-luck food, and what would seem to be a bad-luck food?  Anything chocolate in my mind would bring goodluck…well at least good comfort feelings.  Bad luck would be other people’s leftovers.

Not that any of us believes in luck, but what’s something that happened this week that seems to have been very lucky for you?  Honestly I have a hard time ever saying yeah it was luck because it is all part of a bigger plan that He has mapped out for me.  But it was nice that I was lucky enough to be able to go to Unity last night with a friend because of my husband allowing me that time out.

Sinus headaches

Man do I hate them and with the Allergy levels being so high this summer I’ve been getting way too many of them. They only knock me off my feet for an evening less than once a week but it still sucks to have to go to bed because the sinus pressure sucks so much. I am really wishing tonight as I am here dealing with one after an awesome long camping weekend that we had gone with the in line heater for our tub. When we began to look at jacuzzi tubs that was one of the things I wanted to know more about because water can cool off so fast and an in line heater would actually heat the water even more giving the steam effect. Steam is my best friend right now!!! Granted I need to wait till little guy is asleep so that I can go get a nice warm steam shower because that will help as well! Now to pray he gives into the sleep nice and fast.

Friday 5: What Does this Mean?

When did you last see a rainbow? Have you ever seen a double rainbow?  I am sure there has been many rainbows this summer just can’t recall an actual date… but I do vividly remember the double rainbow we saw in Oahu HI over the Pearl Harbor Memorial!

Do you know anyone who actually says “OMG” in conversation?  I’ve heard it too many time even!

What is the most beautiful natural sight you’ve ever taken in? The views from our Helicopter ride over Molokai and the whales in the ocean on the way there.  Honestly though most of Hawaii is just breath taking!!!!

If you had to freak out about something visible outside your window right now, what would it be?  The man standing on top of the garbage truck who is not being very safe.

Andy Warhol famously wrote that “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for fifteen minutes.” What are your thoughts on fame in this new century, where everyday people seem to gain fame at the speed of an Internet connection?   I honestly think it is what it is and I will not live my life trying to be famous as I want my actions here and now to count for the one who made me.

Extended Camping Weekend

That is exactly what we are getting ready to do.  We so need some downtime where the kids can play and enjoy themselves while Joel and I do not need to worry about all of the things that need to be done around here.  So we are off here tomorrow afternoon and we are all very much looking forward to it!!!  I hope you all have as great of a weekend that I know we will have.
