Also Known as “Mom”

My name is Tina but in my life I’m also known as “Mom”. I am a mommy to 3 little kids and this is my blog all about the In’s and Out’s of my life as “Mom”. So please sit back and enjoy this roller coaster ride from infancy through the teenage years with me.

Once again

Sep-3-2008 By Tina

I am so over this weight that is just hanging on right now. Granted it doesn’t help that I can no longer go for a long walk and help burn it off. It’s so hard not to give in and go see my PCP and get a prescription for some diet pills and just get it gone. But I am so not into using a pill to take off something I did to myself. I know if I work really hard then I can get it off it’s just going to be a long road. A plus is a new Aquatic center that we have here in Spring Lake now. It will be fun to get the kids out to a cool pool durning the winter blues but also be able to put them in childcare and use an eliptical machine. I can only do low impact exercise now which includes that and swimming. Guess I need to get a bathing suit beucase this weight will come off!!!

Triscents

Sep-3-2008 By Tina

I recently was able to try the new Renuzit TriScents and I really really like them. I am currently using it Logan’s room because that little guy can really stink up a room. It’s not too strong that when his room is shut up for hours all day long that you are over taken by the strong smell, but it sure does get rid of that diaper pail smell. I am thinking this would be a great thing to also put in our trailer to get rid of the smell that builds up in the bathroom while we are camping. I never thought I could find a worst smell than the diaper pail smell that builds up in Logan’s room but the trailer bathroom takes it hands down.

When I first decided to give this new room air freshener a try I thought that I would prefer their Seaside breezes scent but I ended up with the Morning Meadow kind and I don’t think I’ll switch to the other now because I like it so much. I would highly suggest to anyone and everyone to give this air freshener a try. In my opinion it’s even better than the Glade ones out there. I posted a link to their site above and from there you can even print out a coupon to give a try and see if you like it too.

Oh yeah

Sep-1-2008 By Tina

So along with watching the home improvement shows they also show lots of how to sell your house and ways to make it more pleasing to potential buyers. One thing we have talked about numerous times is putting on new door hardware to make it more of a brushed nickle color. I am not a fan at all of our gold color when we have so many other things through out the house that are already the brushed nickle. I hope that Joel still likes that idea and we can start slowly changing out the door hardware.

If you haven’t caught on I’d like to sell our house in the next few years. We are just a bit crowded here and it would be nice to have a real office for Joel.

Home improvement shows…

Sep-1-2008 By Tina

Almost every Labor day you can find home improvement shows on. I love to watch them and dream about either things we could do to our house or about find a house with those features once we finally move out of this house some day. Of course if you looked at my list versus Joel’s list you would find them to be very different. His list would surely include a room for home theater furniture and huge projection T.V. on the wall. Mine however would be a huge kitchen with dark wood that lover looked a large great room/ Family room.

I can say that I truly look forward to looking for our next house when the time is right. There is one in our neighborhood that we would love to have but of course it’s for sale right now. I hope it’s not wrong of me to hope it’s still for sale when we are ready to sell. We both would love to have it and it’s be recently redone.

10 yr Anniversary

Aug-29-2008 By Tina

I was talking on the phone today to one of my friends and we were talking about how we are both looking forward to our 10 year Wedding Anniversaries.  Theirs is year away and ours is less than 2.

I know we are planning on getting away.  Right now we have not picked out the where but we do know that my parents are going to let us use one of their time shares and we just need to pick a destination and find a timeshare property that we can change their current ones for.  I am not sure if we will leave the country at this point but I sure would love to.  Granted that means we need to get a passport. So that we can do this…. which probably means we should get it done rather than wait too long just to be safe. Plus there is a small chance that Joel may need to travel out of the US for his job.

All I know is that I am looking forward to our 10 yr Anniversary trip and the kids will rest comfortably at my parents house for a week!!!!!

Much more than Baby wash…

Aug-22-2008 By Tina

Johnson & Johnson has always been known as a company that cares for our baby’s skin.  But they are so much more than just your usual Infant consumer products company. They stand for something and make sure that they are making a difference in communities around the world.

There is a video on their site that caught my eye and I felt was perfectly appropriate to share since the Olympics are being held in China as we speak. The Chinese Ministry of Health and the Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institute, L.L.C. started a partnership called the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR). It is a training program that helps newborn infants to have a better chance at living by teaching medical professionals across China important skills to rescue these children with breathing when they are born. The newborn mortality rate has dropped tremendously since the program came out.

This is just one of the ways that Johnson & Johnson is making an impact across the world and even right here in our country. I highly recommend you check out these other stories at Johnson & Johnson because they have only concreted my opinion about them being the kind of company that I want to trust my kids skin and hair health!!!

For my Grandma

Aug-20-2008 By Tina

My Grandma (maternal) has a disease that so many people have been touched by or dealt with in their life time.  It’s one that rids them of being able to remember how to write. It takes away their ability to know what food goes together on the plate like whether the tomatoes and cheese go in the salad or on the vegetable.  It makes you forget that you just talked to you sister on the phone already and even have to call your daughter to help you remember where to find the phone number even though it’s on speed dial already.  This is Alzheimer’s and this is my Grandmother’s life.

My Grandma use to always say in regards to the women in her family living a long time that she was 100% fine with it as long as she had her mind.  I’m often reminded of this comment as I see her going through a life that is so rough for her.  She is still physically as healthy as can be expected at her age but the Alzheimer’s make it seem that much harder for her life.

There are things that we can do to help this disease that is truly crippling our Elderly and making them lose precious years with their families. Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is like many of the walks out there for families, friends, and anyone ever touched by this disease to come together and raise awareness, money, and hopefully find a cure to stopping this disease in it’s tracks.   An Alzheimer’s walk is typically held in the fall and it about 2-3 miles long.  Check out the website and see if there is a community near you where you can get involved.  They are looking for team leaders, walkers, and just people with a heart for this cause.

I hope that you will take a moment and look at the site and also consider seeing how you can get involved.  This disease is not going anywhere until a cure is found and the more behind he cause the faster we’ll get there together.

My little Man

Aug-20-2008 By Tina

Well today Logan turned 1 and I can not believe how fast this year has gone.  He was suppose to arrive on the 22nd but he failed a Non Stress Test and I started to have contractions.  They decided to take him early and we were so glad they did.  He was lodged in my pelvis with his caord wrapped around his neck.

I love that little man of mine so much and I am so thankful for him and his sisters everyday.  He is so close to walking now and grows more into a little boy everyday.

Happy 1st birthday my little guy!!!

Day Dreams

Aug-20-2008 By Tina

I am a full fledged day dreamer. I often think of things I would love to do with my family or even just Joel and I. My dream often include your run of the mill luxury vacations that you see advertised on the TV. As much as I would love to experience one of those some day when we go on family trips the things that make it so luxurious is the time that we have a family. I have never walked away from a vacation of ours where I wish we had spent more money to make it more fun. We truly enjoy the lay low kind of places where not much is needed. Good thing they are only day dreams!!!

Camping again

Aug-20-2008 By Tina

Well wish us luck we are off tomorrow morning for our second camping trip in our camper.  We are excited and nervous all at once.  With me just back on my feet it should be interesting to say the least.  Hopefully the day after we are back home does not come with.  Now to just get the packing done.  Off to get a good majority of it done.  Have a great rest of the week and weekend as well!!!
