Friday 5: Dairy

Jun-19-2009 By Tina

What are your feelings about milk?  I don’t often drink it by it’s self but it’s great for so many things!!!

What are your feelings about cheese? For the most part love it… just not the stinky kinds.

What are your feelings about yogurt?  Love it!!!

How do you feel about soy milk?  I have never tried it.

How far are you from the nearest cow?  Maybe 10 miles max…there are farms close to here all over the place.

Vegas postponed?

Jun-19-2009 By Tina

We have doing some talking and we may have to put our Vegas trip on hold for a few years… but don’t worry the Stratosphere hotel rides will be there but a chance to enjoy Hawaii might not be. Yes you read that right we are thinking about going to Hawaii now. We have a family member that will be Oahu for a few years and we could stay with them for a few days and see Pearl Habor and then head to Maui for a 5 days or so and lay low and take in the beauty. Just thinking about this makes me so excited. Vegas can be a long weekend trip and the Grand Cayon can wait till the kids are older to enjoy it as well. But a chance to visit family in Hawaii doesn’t come by often. I can not wait to start attempting to plan this to see if it’s right for us!!!

Seasonal

Jun-18-2009 By Tina

Okay so after camping at Poncho’s Pond from last week Wednesday till this Monday, I realized we would love to have a seasonal site at a park eventually. It would be so nice to not have to pack everything up to go somewhere and haul the trailer. Then unpack it there and get settled which normally takes most of the afternoon. Then you realize you’ve forgotten something because you need it while setting up. That is just one of the many reasons we’d like a seasonal.

Another one is the friendships that the kids could form with other seasonal kids. I remember visiting my grandparents as a kid at their summer trailer and hanging out with the same kids everytime because we were there all of the time. How great for kids to meet new friends and create friendships out of their comfort zone!

I also like the idea of not having to pack up and leave at the end of trip. It would be nice to do some light cleaning, close things up and just leave it all there. I hate packing up because it takes most of the last morning as well. The kids get so cranky because they hate having to stay out of the way and not have the comfort of the camper to use while we pack up.

Lastly the other benefits would be the things we could leave there to use everytime we come and not have to haul those things around. Those things I am thinking of are outdoor furniture, toys for the kids, clothing just for while we camp that is clean for the next time we come and nothing dirty to bring home, all of the non perishable stuff for the fridge, and lastly the struggle of having to haul everything every freaking time!!!! I can not wait for the day for us to be to that point for sure.

Tech Savy

Jun-18-2009 By Tina

Well that term so does not fit me at all. Here I am thinking I know lots of stuff untill my husband actually starts talking tech stuff with one of his friends. We were camping with our friends this past weekend and they started talking all kinds of things I had never heard of. Heck some of them so foreign that I don’t even remember what they were. Granted our friends became our good friends because the guys worked together so tech talks comes by them as computer consultants naturally.

Well of course the talk turns to how the guys could watch shows they love to watch without missing them while camping. One idea was to take our old not in use Tivo with us next time we go camping so it can act as a digital recorder. Yeah silly I know but you know boys and thier sports, but they are awesome about putting the kids first while camping so they miss them. So why not find a way to do them all. Well they then started talking about something called a Slingbox. Honestly I still don’t have a clue what that is but apparently would allow them to watch their shows from home there. Not sure how and I am just sticking to believing they know what they are talking about because like I said I am not tech savy and I have better things to do like catch some sun and read a good book while I’m camping LOL!!!

Intense cleaning

Jun-13-2009 By Tina

That is exactly what the outside of my camper needs. I am sitting here watching the kids play on the playground here 20 feet max from our camper and I can’t help but notice how badly the outside of the camper needs a good scrub and wash. I am almost tempted to rent one of those pressure washers when we get home to get all of that deep ground in dirt off. I would also use it on the deck before I restain it and also the side of the house before I do some patch concrete work and repaint the bricks. We shall see I see another project coming!!!

Pictures…

Jun-13-2009 By Tina

I am finding myself taking lots of picture again lately.  In think when the weather is nice and we can get outside taking pictures is so much more fun and they turn out so much better.  I have even been getting out my Cannon Digital Rebel a lot.  Granted right now I have no idea where my second memory card is at this point. I really need to find it so I don’t always have to have my computer close to transfer the pictures. I can’t not wait to get out some morning this summer and get some awesome pictures of the kids. I really enjoy this more than I ever thought I would.

Haircuts…

Jun-13-2009 By Tina

Well in the last 4 days all 3 of my kids have gotten haircuts :(  The girls needed nice and short summer cuts and the boy….well quiet frankly he needed to look more like a little boy.  I have take pictures of them all and I will add the pictures later this afternoon.  I can not believe how much older they all look.

Fitness Supplements

Jun-13-2009 By Tina

I know along the journey of my blog I have talked about how I want to lose weight and get healthy.  There are so many get thin quick drugs out there but can truly help you change your life unless you do it yourself.  I truly believe that you have to do this first before anything can be achived.  Changing the way you look at food, exercise, and take care of your whole body is the most important step.  Using supplements is one way to help boost this new way of thinking and taking care of your body.  Supplements can supply the much needed vitamins and minerals you need to help take care of you.

One of the many products out there is Stemulite. It is a supplement that is suppose to help you sleep better, lose weight, gain muscle, and just all around feel better.  I’ve never tried it myself but they offer a 5 min video on their website with lots of info and testimonials from pro football players even.  Whenever looking into a new product I extensively research it to learn more.  I always start at the companies website and learn all I can.  Stemulite has lots of info and great endorsement.  You can learn a lot about their product and what it is made up of.  This is an awesome start in my opinion about what this supplement can offer and I would definetly look further into this product if I was currently looking for a supplement.  Right now I’m doing a woman’s vitamin supplement and don’t need another one but it will for sure stay in the back of my mind if the vitamins no longer work.

Friday 5: Eat and Drink

Jun-12-2009 By Tina

What’s something you will not eat unless you also have ketchup?  There really isn’t anything… I like ketchup but it only is truly a condiment to me.

What’s something you will not drink unless it is served on ice cubes?  Water at restaurants!!!!!!!

What’s something you will not eat unless it is served between slices of bread? Again like the ketchup…. I love bread but it’s a side thing to me.  I’ll even eat a hamburger with out bread.

What’s something you will not drink unless you have a straw? I guess I am not as picky as my husband likes to say I am because I don’t need a straw ever, but I use them when they are there.

What’s something else you will not eat except under very specific circumstances? I really can’t think of anything and I even stopped to eat breakfast to think about it and still nothing…

Camping this week…

Jun-11-2009 By Tina

Well we are off camping for the next 5 days. This is a much needed vacation for the family and myself as well. We are staying in Ludington at a place called Poncho’s Pond. I recently got a new product to try that is a bed bug encasement. It’s called Bug Zip and it’s to keep those pesky little bed bugs off from your clothing and what not. Since campers I am guessing are just filled with bedbugs I could not think of a better place to give the product a try.

So far I am very pleased with how they kept the girls clothing dry when we first got here. That is a story in it’s self since we forgot to empty the water heater tank before winter and it cracked big time this winter. It ended up spraying water every where near the back bunk when we hooked up the water yesterday. So not only are my kids clothing bed bug free it saved me a trip to do laundry. Since water can get into anything and it was not on the clothing then their clothing has to be 100% bug free so I’m really happy with the product so far!!! If a Bug bug preventer also saved me lots of time and hassle from water incident then it gets my seal of approval.

Here is a picture of the product. When I get home I’ll add my own picture of the bag that saved me!!!!

Not sure how much most of you know about bed bugs but they are every where we go and there is nothing you can do to fully get rid of them.  however with this new product you can prevent someone else’s bed bugs from coming home with you and getting into your stuff.  This leads to the down fall of the product in some ways because you should not bring the bad home with you when you travel.  Leave it where you are since they can attach themselves to the zipper.  However if this is the only downfall and I have already found on advantage that isn’t even part of why they made the product then all is well.

Have a great week everyone!!!
